Introducing Miss Mountain Lakes

I know today is Wishful Wednesday but the topic is Glee and I have never seen that show. So I thought I would blog about my Lil Sis. She is not my actual sister, we are sorority sisters, but I love her all the same!

Anna and I had dinner last night for the first time in forever! We could not remember the last time we had seen each other, which is not okay. We have made a promise to get dinner once a month together.

Anna was Miss Collierville last year and is Miss Mountain Lakes this year. This means that she will be going to compete for Miss Tennessee in about 8 weeks! I would love to go and watch her however, my other friend is getting married on that same day. I will be making the trip to go and see her during the preliminaries on the Wed. and Thurs. before! I know she is going to be amazing!

I just wanted to send her some love this morning!

It's Official . . . I'm In Love With TIM TEBOW

I just could not wait til tomorrow to post this!! Momma and I just got back from Jackson and listening to Tim Tebow speak! He did an amazing job! He was funny and heartfelt, it was perfect. We sat in the balcony but we still had really good seats!

After the dinner I told Mom to drive around back so I could get my picture with Tim. She was a little unsure but I told her this is how I have met many celebrities, waiting by their tour bus after a show (she didn't quite care for that information, hahaha). So Mr. Tebow finally comes out and all his security blocks us, about 25 of us, off from getting near him. They said he would not sign autographs but pictures were okay. PERFECT, all I wanted was a picture! The security informed me that I was confused. . . I could take pictures of him getting in his car. Wow that sucks! So I take some pictures of him getting in his car and he starts to wave at me!! It was awesome!

I get back in the car with Momma and tell her what happened and right at that time his a police car, his car, a media car, and another police car pull out in front of us! I told Mom how I heard that they were taking him to the airport so we should follow them and get my picture there. Remember we are in Jackson TN the airport only has two planes! haha!

As we start driving Tim sees me and starts waving at me! It is like a dream come true!! So we are laughing and waving at each other as we drive to the airport. Mom and I turn into the airport and his caravan turns in at another entrance for private planes. So I see that their is a gate and a man that I think is a security guard tells me that I can just go into the airport. So I follow him in there and see Tim!! We are the only people at the Jackson airport at 9:30 at night! I asked him for a picture and he says okay.

After the picture I thank him and tell him that I figured he owed me a picture. This caught him off guard and he started laughing asked why. At the dinner when you got your tickets you could write a question and he would answer some, mine was not picked. So I tell him he owes me because he didn't get to answer my question. Tim then asks what my question was? It was "My church host and FCA Football Camp every year for inner city schools. If you have one piece of advice for them what would it be"? He thinks for a second and tells me that it is a really good question and he would tell them "To pray and listen to God. And listen to what He is telling them His plan is for their life." Then I told him to have a safe flight and thanks for the picture!! It was the best night of my life!! All to find out that the media from the television station in Jackson has been there taping us! haha! Now I have to see if I can get the tape of us talking!

I just couldn't wait to tell ya'll!! I wonder if I am going to get any sleep tonight?!?!

Hello Handsome!!!

I think this is the best monday ever! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! In 7 hours I will be in a fancy dress at a gala listening to this handsome man speak!!

Yep TIM TEBOW!! He is speaking at Union University in Jackson TN. I am working a half day so I can go home and get all prettied up for him! Plus its an hour drive to get there. I am really hoping that after he speaks that we can go and meet him! If so ya'll better be on the look out because I will post that picture on here tomorrow! haha! That would just make my year! Here's hoping!

Then There Were Three . . .

Happy Friday!! I am so excited that it is time for the weekend!

Last night was amazing with Mark Richt!! I managed to meet him and get him to sign the book, Top Dawgs. However, the dinner lasted until 9 so I didn't get home in time to watch Project Runway. Thankfully it had an encore showing right after so I stayed up til about midnight just so I would be able to blog about last nights episode! haha!

It was the show down between Mila and Jay. Now neither is my favorite. I really wanted Emilio, Seth Aaron and Anthony to make it, so since two of my picks are in I don't care too much who makes the third spot. But I guess I leaned more towards Jay just because Mila gets on my nerves! She is just mean. So of course she made it to Bryant Park. I can not wait until next week for the season finale and to see the designers entire collections! They are going to be amazing!!

Yesterday my BFF, Bunny, sent me this email.

Subject: New Cell Phone Law

Cell phones - New Law (2010)
According to new law that goes into effect soon you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a 'hands free' adapter.
I went to Circuit City and they wanted $50 for a headset with a microphone for my cell phone. Having a friend in the cell phone business, I talked with him and was able to come up with an alternative, working through Office Depot.

These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits all. I paid him $0.08 each because he bought in quantity.

Then we tried it with Motorola, Sprint, Verizon and Nokia units and they worked perfectly. A photo is attached of a Memphis man using one so scroll down & take a look and let me know if you want one.

What Was That Percentage?!?!

Happy almost weekend bloggers!!

Last night was Bible Study night! I look forward to Wednesday nights for so many reasons. My momma and I do Bible Studies together so I enjoy sharing that time with her. I also love just being in God's Holy Word with a group of women. I enjoy Beth Moore so much and I follow her studies usually. This semester is no different. I am sure I have already told you how I am going through her Breaking Free study. Our lesson last week was about the captivity of activity. So in honor of breaking free from that we took a week off and just enjoy some fellowship last night, and food of course since we are Southern Baptist women!

While fellowshipping and eating we got a special treat. A wonderful family in our Church, the Horners, shared their testimony. It started 10 years ago when they got married. They were young, just 17. The situation was not what they had planned, but they were being blessed with a sweet little baby. From there on they were involved in church raised their children in a Godly home however Micheal was keeping a big secret. He was addicted to pornography. It started at a young age when he had seen it in another family members home in elementry school.

This of course lead him in to some affairs and on and on. This was kept a secret because pornography is not something that is discussed in the church. The stastics show that 70% of men in church struggle with this addiction, as do 30% of women. Micheal realized that he needed to be transparent and to confess his addiction. Through that God literally rocked their marriage. They seperated and went to counseling and during thier time apart God took that time to work on them indivually and brought them together again!

They are still healing from this but are listening to God's call to make more people aware of the struggle facing men and young boys. 70% if churched men?! That is huge!! They are finding how God wants to use them so please pray for direction for thier ministry. More proof that this is a major issue is Clay Cross. He was one of the most amazing Christian singers in the 90s but he also struggled with pornography. Clay and his wife have a ministry called Holy Homes. Please visit their site and hear the way God worked in their lives too!

On a less serious note I am so excited to be going tonight to hear Mark Richt speak at an FCA fundraising dinner!! YAY!!

Wishful Wednesday . . . Charity

'I wish' .... I had never-ending funds to donate to a charity and it would be FCA and the Jiff Ministry!

These are two ministries very close to my heart! Memphis is a very urban city and many students play a sport as an attempt to get into college. FCA is a way to teach and mentor these athletes. It is an unthreating way to tell them about Christ when they otherwise might never have heard about him.

Jiff is Juvenile Intervention and Faith-Based Follow-Up. The JIFF ministry is based upon the conviction that crime and violence are in essence a spiritual problem, and while there may be other “factors” at work in a young offender’s life that need to be addressed, and are being addressed, ultimately these young people need a Savior to transform their lives and homes from the inside out. That Savior is Jesus, the Christ. God has stated in His Word: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” That is their mission.

I know that both of these are Memphis area ministries but if I had never ending funds I would love to help expand these into other cities.
